ABOUT THE AIM LOW KID
Aim Low Kid represents a changing of the guard in the sounds of disillusionment. Like the dreams and goals of our generation, Aim Low Kid is hard to define, hard to peg down, challenging to analyze, and rewarding to persevere with.
With the debut album Soundtrack for the New Depression, a new trail is blazed through the broken hearts and empty bottles of our times. Simultaneously depressing, resolute, optimistic, apologetic, and inspired, the sounds of the country-influenced, alternative-bred foursome marks an eclectic departure from standard ìmood rock.î Not to be compared to any other, never to be bested and always at odds with itself, the music of Aim Low Kid is like a geode; callous and isolated around a core of beauty.

REVIEWS
"A ringing but slightly fuzzed-out lead guitar, a solid but never perky backbeat, and an overall unwillingness to let go of the best parts of emo make Aim Low Kid a good band, but the singerís abandon and honesty plus some really messed-up and beautiful contributions from violin/mandolin/saw player Ygal Kaufman make the local quintet stellar (especially the stretched, squeaky violin on ìCouple Dozen People.î) The songs are desolate, elegiac, and sound as if pulled from a deep well, especially the country-flecked ìGonna Die,î which has a surprisingly warm syrup of bassline and more of that insolent, scratchy fiddle. How can this be pop music? Weíre not completely sure." - SF Weekly |
